Erie Insurance Umbrella Policy

What is an Umbrella Policy? It refers to personal liability insurance that is in excess of specified other policies and also potentially primary insurance for losses not covered by the other policies. When an insured is liable to someone, the insured’s primary insurance policies pay up to their policy limits. But what happens when that isn’t enough? That is when the Erie umbrella insurance policy kicks in.

Example: You are at fault for a car accident and the person you hit is paralyzed. They hire Attorney Edgar Hoover and you are sued for $700,000. Your Auto policy has limits of $250,000 per person and $500,000 per accident. Where does that other $450,000 come from? If you had an Umbrella policy, that is where it would pick up and cover the remaining amount above your auto limits.

Most Umbrella policies are sold in increments of $1 Million dollars and start as low as $155 a year. Sound too good to be true? Well, it is true, but there are stipulations that have to be met before an Umbrella policy can be written.

You work your whole life to buy a home, save for your children’s education, save for retirement, and have nice things. Would you want to risk losing all of that to save $155 a year?

As always, it is an additional discount for your Home and Auto. Call me now at (814) 616-8336 for a free auto, home, and cost of umbrella insurance package, or click below!
